How to Get Rid of Tan Lines Fast?

We all love getting a beautiful tan but when it comes to tan lines, it is a big no! Let’s start with the root analysis of the problem.

Bad tan lines are whitish or more accurately, your skin-colored lines which occur over a fresh tan.

The worst thing about the tan line is that it might even come to people who hate tanning. I have to tell you that tan lines don’t come out of anywhere but because of slight carelessness from your side.

In the majority of the cases, prolonged sun exposure is the real culprit behind these uneven colors on your skin. Remember the summer day in which you went outside and your skin turned whitish only where you had your watch?

Tan lines take at least two weeks to fade away. Yeah, that’s a tremendous long duration for beauty freaks.

But worry not. This article will guide you to even out bad tan lines fast.

What Causes Tan Lines?

These not-so looking lines are also known as farmer’s tan. Why? It is very common in farmers who spend hours working outside.

Anyway, let’s start with the root analysis of the problem.

There are different factors that can create uneven colors on your skin. Some of the most common are:

1.      Tight clothing:

Wearing tight clothes for prolonged periods of time while working or tanning will result in tan lines surely. Watches, bracelets, tight bra straps, etc. are some of the most common culprits.

It is always a good idea to not wear tight outfits while exposing yourself to the sun for a prolonged duration. If you are sun tanning or using a tanning bed, never ever wear tight bras.

2.      Miscalculated Spray Tanning

Spray tanning doesn’t differ from person to person, but the calculation does. If the spray tanning is not done with a calculated spread of the tanning solution on the body, it will most probably result in tan lines.

3.      Uneven Skin Contact:

When you are tanning inside a UV bed, you might come out to find more blotches than tan lines and a moon-shaped tan line on your butt, called butt moons.

These occur when the part of your skin doesn’t get enough UV as the rest of the body (because of prolonged contact with the surface).

4. Tanning With Clothes on

In my opinion, tanning with your clothes(inner wears) is the biggest reason most tanning enthusiasts get tan lines. Many people fear about privacy or are shy about tanning nude.

We have a detailed article on nude tanning, which you can read here: https://tanninggirl.com/nude-tanning/

How to Prevent Tan Lines?

As the old proverb says, prevention is better than cure.

Yes, tan lines are removable up to an extent but why get them in the first place when you can prevent?

Taking these small precautions, you will get an amazing tan with the least amount of irregularities so you don’t have to waste more time perfecting it.

1.      Prefer Naked Tanning

If you often get tan lines after tanning sessions, one thing you’re doing wrong is tanning with clothes on. My best advice to you would be to remove everything you have on.

If you’re tanning inside your home by the poolside or somewhere obscure, away from human traffic, you might consider taking everything off while laying in the sun. This will just easily remove any chances for you to get tan lines.

Even for tanning beds, tanning naked is the best practice. But make sure that you use tanning goggles for eye protection.

2.      Use Tanning Lotion

It’s a lot easier to control your tan and the lines when you’re in charge of it. If you are not a big fan of sun or UV tanning, you must consider spray or artificial tanning. More than I’d recommend you to go to a tanning salon, I’d suggest you do it at home over a private tanning bed. This way, you will not be obliged to have anything on as you would be in a tanning salon.

3.      Wear tan-through swimsuit:

You aren’t the only one facing this problem. So, tan-through swimsuits are widely available in the markets. These swimsuits do not reveal anything but are designed with a material that allows the UV rays to pass through, thus not causing any barrier. This will eventually result in no tan lines.

5 Natural Remedies to Get Rid of Tan Lines

It’s okay if you weren’t careful and calculated in the first place, and got bad looking tan lines.

These tan lines look tough on the skin and difficult to remove, but honestly, they are not. It will take some effort to remove them, but it is not impossible.

Even if you happened to have uneven colors on your skin, the cost to remove them is not very high. There are many natural remedies to even out tan lines. People have been using these amazing methods since long and have been getting fantastic results too.

One issue with the natural method is that it will take a few days time to lose tan lines. But they are very effective.

Let’s look at some of the natural ways you can remove bad tan lines.

1.      Lemon Juice with Honey

No, you don’t have to drink it.

Lemon juice is a natural exfoliant, which is used for many other skin purposes than just this one. In our experience, lemon juice is the best natural tan removing agent. You should thank the Vitamin C found in lemon for the quick result.

When you’ve got a tan line, all you have to do is take a little lemon juice and mix it with a little honey (to dilute the acidity). Apply it on the tan lines and leave for 25-35 minutes before washing it off.

This will exfoliate your skin fast and promote new skin cell growth, which will always match the melanin amount in your surrounding skin.

You should not forget to add honey with the lemon juice. If you don’t, your skin will start turning dry and you will feel itchy.

2.      Cucumber

Don’t tell me you’ve never seen people place cucumber on their bodies, especially over the eyes.

Yes, we’re going to do something similar but use a paste instead. Just like lemon, Cucumber is also rich with vitamin C and other skin revitalizing nutrients.

All you have to do is make a paste out of these cucumbers and apply it on your tan lines.

For faster and efficient results, mix the paste with lemon juice. Apply and let sit for about 15-25 minutes. Wash off with cold water. The results will be slow but visible in a week’s time.

3.      Potatoes

Did you know potatoes are used to treat sunburns? No? Well then, today is the day you learn new things.

Potatoes are used to treat and cure sunburns because of their Vitamin C.

In this case, potatoes hold a lot of water and are also rich with a special enzyme called catecholase. Catecholase is the main enzyme used to fix tan lines by evenly enriching the surrounding skin.

You can grate raw small potatoes and apply on your tan lines evenly. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes before washing it off.

4. Milk

There are two different ways you can use milk to remove tan lines.

  • Milk cream
  • Raw milk and turmeric

Milk can be your go-to commodity to get rid of the tan lines. It can nourish your skin and in that process can get rid of the damaged skin texture.

The process is very simple. You need to add a pinch of turmeric along with lemon juice to either of milk cream or raw milk first. Then apply it on the farmer’s tan for around half an hour.

I am sure that you will see commanding results in one week time. It is recommended to apply the mixture at least twice a day.

5. Natural Oils

The last one in our list of natural remedies to address tan lines is natural oils. You know them- coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, and the name goes on.

Depending upon the availability, you can use any of the available natural oils.

What’s the process here?

Take equal quantities of the natural oils you have. Mix them and apply on the tan lines. I would like to have the mix to be rubbed on those areas. Keep it overnight and you can wash it in the morning.

You can continue this process for one week time and you will see excellent results in the meantime.

How to Fix tan lines?- the Fast Way

At least for some of us, the natural remedies might be boring. It consumes a lot of time.

Well, there’s always artificial fixes available which can get you far better results in the shortest time frame. I’m going to talk about the workaround I used back in high school.

1. Exfoliation and Moisturization

The easiest method to fade away your tan lines is through exfoliation and moisturization.

So, what you need for this?

  • A makeup sponge
  • Self-tanner solution
  • Light moisturizer
  • A good exfoliant scrub

The Method:

  1. While in the shower, use the exfoliant scrub to exfoliate your skin (especially over the tan lines). This will remove any dead skin cells that might disturb the process later and bring up fresh new skin.
  2. After you get out of the shower, dry your skin and apply a light moisturizer over the tanned skin around your tan lines. This will isolate your tan lines for the step to come.
  3. Use the make-up sponge and dip it into the self-tanner solution.
  4. Apply the self-tanner to your tan lines evenly and nicely. Let it sit there for a couple of minutes until dry.
  5. Repeat the process for as long as the tan lines aren’t gone. Took almost 5 days for me.

2. Fine Adjustments to Tanning

The second option might be costlier, but it will fetch you results in a couple of days time. This is by far the easiest way to blend in your tan lines.

You can do this in three ways:

  • Tanning bed
  • Spray tanning
  • Self-tanners

Visit your nearest tanning salon to get selective tanning for those areas where there are uneven colors. But I will not advocate this method.

Why?

There are chances that fine-tuning can’t be done for certain cases.

Spray tanning and self-tanners will be your best pals here.

You can selectively apply spray tan or self-tanners over your tan lines and make it blend with your skin color. Moreover, don’t pick a self-tanner that is matching with your skin color.

You have to select light-colored self-tanner or spray tan to ensure that you’re not overdoing it. Deep tanning colors will make your skin orange and that would be another headache. So, select your color wisely.

Make sure that you get help Xanax pills online from someone else to ensure at most perfection.

3. Makeup

Yeah, you heard it right. Smart use of makeup can solve the tan line problem to an extent.

You can use good foundations to cover the annoying tan lines.
